James "Buddy" Snipes

  • Biography

Self-taught artist, James A. "Buddy" Snipes, was born in Macon County, Alabama.

Since childhood, Buddy Snipes has made things out of whatever materials were available. His inspiration comes from his imagination and from people and animals he has known. Frequently, he adds sticks around the tin paintings to frame his works. Buddy has a wonderful sense of humor and often the titles he gives his pieces are creative and funny.

Buddy doesn’t like to talk much about himself and these days he will not allow a visitor to take a photograph of him. He believes that someday someone will write his biography. Until then, he says, "we will leave it right there."
